nRF91 with Vanilla Zephyr

Hello, as the title suggests. I'm just wondering if the nRF91 (nRF9160 or nRF9151 DK) can use vanilla Zephyr instead of NCS for getting GNSS data (using the GNSS API)?

I've been using NCS for a while, but I'm starting a different project that uses components from other manufacturers and is using vanilla Zephyr.

Hi Dejan, yes this is what I look for. Just a question about its compatibility with nRF91, any example that uses this API, or do I have to write my own driver for it?

Hi,

You can look at Zephyr GNSS sample. You can find it in samples/drivers/gnss. Documentation specifies requirements for the sample.

Thank you for your response. I did look at the sample before I start the forum question. Sorry for not explain it clearly:

- In the GNSS bindings, I don't see a Nordic compatible one. That's why I was asking if it's possible to get it working on nRF91. Would the `gnss-nmea-generic.yaml` work with nRF9151 DK?

- I can't find any information/example for using upstream GNSS API, all I can find is Nordic GNSS interface, which needs to be use with NCS, if I understand that correctly?

Hi,

The (modemlib) GNSS API is not part of the Zephyr and there is no Zephyr GNSS driver implementation for nrf91.
