Nordic PMIC nPM2100 technical support issue

Since the product we are developing is supposed to experience extremely high temperature conditions, we are concerned about the ambient temperature operating limit of 85 degree.

We would like to know if this limit can be exceeded without damaging the PMIC. And if not, does it affect its functional performance?

If so, then what ambient temperature can be reached without destruction?

  • The 105C degrees junction temperature is the most critical parameter for making sure the specified parameters are met. What actually is the junction vs ambient temperature depends on the load, PCB structure, air flow etc. and should be measured on the actual device during worst case operating condition. QFN device has lower thermal resistance compared to CSP and that has to be considered as well.

Exceeding anything over 105 degrees C junction temperature in mass produced device is not recommended. Testing has been done up to 105 degrees C only.
