I understand that the rf path should be 50 ohm coplaner to the output matching network that should be placed very close the the NRF chip. The recommendation shown in the reference designs is to use a distant ground layer to that point. Is there guidance about the antenna trace itself. In the reference design using .062 pcb they voided all inner layer ground planes under the area but back side ground remains. Would that not shield the RF energy from transmitting a pattern through the bottom side? How can that work?
