Question about the Host IC selection.

Hi. I have a question about the selection of Host IC of nRF7002.

Looks like general official recommendation is nRF5340.

But my team has a long history with nRF52840. (Which means we have a plenty stock in our warehouse.)

# Question

With nRF52840, looks like below application goal is pretty hard to suceed.

- WiFi (HTTP)

- BLE (Central, need to connect to multiple Peripheral)

- Small LCD display

- WiFi & BLE OTA

- Additional sensor module. (Using SPI or UART)

If you don't mind, please share some opinion for feasibility with nRF52840.

It is not recommended to use an nRF52840 as a host for nRF7002 in your use case. As you can see in this page:https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/nrf/app_dev/device_guides/nrf70/constrained.html , the nRF52840 is marked as supported, but with a commend that "the SoC is supported, but the use case is not recommended due to performance or memory constraints."

It should be technically possible to bring up Wi‑Fi (scan only)+ some BLE if you are extremely aggressive with optimization and feature trade‑offs, but again it is not recommended. For your full feature set (Wi‑Fi HTTP, multi‑central BLE, LCD, dual‑OTA, sensors), it definitely will not be enough. I suggest that you look at nRF5340 since it is fully supported.
