Sysbuild OTA log related issue

Hello Nordic Team,

I am currently working on OTA using Sysbuild configuration on the nRF52833 with the nRF Connect SDK .

In this configuration, I enabled overwrite-only mode in MCUboot (SB_CONFIG_MCUBOOT_MODE_OVERWRITE_ONLY=y). The firmware ZIP file updates successfully, and the OTA process completes without any errors.

However, I observed that the log output appears the same whether overwrite-only mode is enabled or disabled. I do not see any difference in the log messages in the nRF Connect mobile application between the two configurations.

I will share the logs for both cases (overwrite-only enabled and overwrite-only disabled) for your reference.

Hello,

This config controls how the bootloader copies the image from the secondary slot to the primary slot when activating the update after the DFU transfer has completed. This process is completely transparent to the DFU client (nRF Connect app), and this is why the log appears the same.

Yes, the swap should not take place if you really have overwrite mode enabled. I suggest you verify the configuration to see if overwrite mode is indeed enabled in the generated .config file for mcuboot (can be found in build folder under the following path: build/mcuboot/zephyr/).

Yes, I tested with overwrite enabled and disabled. I will share my configuration. Even after setting everything correctly, the logs still show swapping .

No, I asked for the .config file generated for your bootloader and you have not provided this. This file is located in the build folder under the following path build/mcuboot/zephyr/ like mentioned earlier. Please also work on formatting your posts. The screenshots you posted are not easy to read and take up too much space since you are including the white background.

BOOT_UPGRADE_ONLY is equivalent to the sysbuild symbol SB_CONFIG_MCUBOOT_MODE_OVERWRITE_ONLY.
