QSPI

I am attempting to use the nRF52840 QSPI periphery to communicate with an SRAM chip.  The chip is IS66WVS8M8FBLL-104NLI.  I am unable to communicate with it using QSPI.  I am successful at using regular SPI, but the QSPI is not working.  I believe all 6 pins are connected and linked in SW correctly.  I have read that the nRF52840 might not support this chip.  Is that correct, or should I be able to communicate with this chip using QSPI?

Read the QSPI chapter carefully in the PS document. Its very picky about command and communication structure (most of which is hard wired).

So anything that is not from the family of NOR flash chips like on the DK is highly unlikely to work. A few minor exceptions exist though.

Is there any known SRAM chip that is compatible with the nRF52840?

Hi,

 

The nRF52840 QSPI peripheral is setup in hardware to target NOR based flash devices.

Using it for other types of memory will be problematic.
