Regarding IAR compiler support with NCS SDK

Hi,

I'm referring to this post below

IAR Compiler support for nRF54L series

Based on the response above, it looks like  IAR + NCS SDK is not supported by Nordic . Is that the official response from Nordic ?

We are working on a medical device and have chosen nrf54l15 as our SoC, and we would need NCS SDK to get our BLE application running .   So far we were using VS Code + west which internally uses GCC.  But for FDA compliance, IAR is more widely accepted for FDA compliance than GCC.   It's will be a tall order for us to get FDA compliance with GCC.

Looking for an official/formal response from Nordic about this.  Please help.

Thanks.

  • Thanks for the prompt response.  Although it puts us in a spot.

    Couple of follow up questions

    1) Is there a plan for NCS support for IAR - any timelines ?

    2) Assuming we want to stick to nrf54l15 and use IAR, do we have any alternatives ?  Looks like IAR + upstream Zephyr + nrf54l15 is officially supported.  Is it possible to port our BLE application that currently uses NCS SDK to upstream Zephyr.  Can you please provide some guidance for this ?
