Unable to connect to Power Profiler Kit PPK2 - faulty hw?

Hello,

I purchased my first nordic semiconductors device, the PPKII, from Farnell.

I just received it today and installed the required software (nRF Connect on macOS, and the recommended SEGGER J-Link version).

But unfortunately I am unable to connect to my PPK2 device. The device simply does not show up at all.

When I connect to the “USB data / power” port and toggle the “power” switch to "ON", both LEDs slowly flash green (fade in / fade out effect).

However the device is nowhere to be seen in the Power Profiler app.

- I did install the recommended version of segger software (V9.24a)

- the device can not be seen in macOS system report / USB

- I also tried to connect it to a different computer, on a linux host, the device is not listed in lsusb and nothing appears in dmesg

- I tried with the switch in the "off" position, I tried the other "USB power only" port, I tried 3 different USB cables, same result

- I tried to make sure no other device of any kind is connected to the computer

- I tried changing my USB hub / trying without a hub on the linux computer

Should I simply return it and ask for a replacement or is there something I'm doing completely wrong?
