Any issues with this crystal and nRF7002?
Hi Michael,
As per the datasheet of the nRF7002, the CL must be 8 pF and also have a ESR of max. 100 Ohm:
https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ps_nrf7002/page/chapters/elspec/doc/electrical_specification.html
The ABM12W xtal from Abracon is available in 8 pF, and has a ESR of less than 100 ohm, which is good.
Please note that since 5 GHz band has a strict requirement of a tolerance of max. 20 ppm (including aging), trimming is required.
Trimming of the crystal initial frequency tolerance, and the internal capacitors in the nRF70-series oscillator, is described more in detail here:
https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/nan_043/page/APP/nan_043/xtalxo_freq_trimming.html
This is the 40 MHz crystal that is mounted on the nRF7002-DK, for comparison:
https://ftp.kds.info/products/DSX1612S_SL_en.pdf
And on the nRF7002-EK, we have one from Kyocera:
Kind regards,
Håkon
