Hello Nordic Community,
We are working on a custom hardware design based on nRF9151 using NCS SDK v3.1.0. Our hardware design, antenna matching network, and tuning process have already been completed, including capacitor value optimization and antenna tuning.
We are now preparing for RF antenna validation and certification testing in a laboratory environment and would like guidance on the recommended methodology.
We found the following modem RF test command:
AT%XRFTEST=1,1,28,7000,23,1,4,1,0,0,0,0
Example configuration:
- Band 28
- 700 MHz
- LTE-M (Cat-M1)
- +23 dBm TX Power
- CW Modulation
Our questions are:
- Is using AT%XRFTEST the recommended and valid approach for antenna RF performance testing during certification/pre-compliance testing?
- Which firmware or modem firmware version is recommended for RF lab testing?
- Are there any Nordic-recommended procedures or test modes specifically intended for:
- Conducted TX measurements
- Radiated antenna measurements
- Band/frequency verification
- Output power verification
- Can RF certification testing be performed entirely through firmware-controlled test commands, or are there additional Nordic tools/methodologies that should be used?
- Are there any limitations when using
%XRFTESTfor certification-related measurements compared to production test firmware or lab equipment control?
We would appreciate guidance on the proper firmware setup, modem commands, and overall RF validation methodology recommended by Nordic for nRF9151-based products.
Thank you for your support.
Best Regards,
Milan
