Could not find SOC

When I create a new build ciónfiguration in nrf connect I get this Loading and the new configuration is not created itself.

This error is displayed in the VScode.

Could not find SOC.

This was an already working application and not something new.

Please guide how to solve this issue

After I investigated I found that the boards folder has a newly added .yml file for a different controller:stm32 which is also used int he same project. When I remove this folder then nrfconnect is able to create a build configuration successfully. Is this a limitation for nrf Connect that it cannot detect the SOC of other vendors?

Hi Aishwarya,

It is great to know that you were able to create the build configuration successfully.  nRF Connect SDK (NCS) extends Zephyr RTOS. And Zephyr is not Nordic-specific. Thus,  NCS can support other MCU like your STM32, it is just that they won't be able to use some "Nordic-only" drivers like nrfx library. Hope this answers your question.

Intresting. But a boards folder with .yml file having soc:stm32 could not be detected while creating build configuration using NCS2.9.0.

Hi Aishwarya,

Can you try changing the file from .yml to .yaml. and check if this solves your issue.
