case about nRF7002 & 8kHz

Hi,

1. Can nRF54LM20 + nRF7002 communicate with another nRF7002 using Wi-Fi (without Bluetooth) or a proprietary protocol, and achieve a 8kHz response rate?
2. The customer hopes to achieve transmission of more than 16 bytes and reach a response rate above 8kHz?

Hi Peter,

Two nRF7002 devices can communicate directly without Bluetooth or an external access point by using Wi-Fi Direct (P2P) mode or SoftAP mode. Refer: https://nrfconnectdocs.nordicsemi.com/ncs/latest/nrf/samples/wifi/p2p/README.html. In P2P mode, one device acts as the Group Owner (GO) and the other as the Client (CLI).  If you want to use  2.4 GHz proprietary protocol, that runs directly on the on-chip 2.4 GHz radio of the nRF54LM20 SoC itself, rather than through the nRF7002.

And 8KHz response rate would not be possible though. Wi-Fi protocol overhead  creates round-trip latencies on the order of several milliseconds. Also, the nRF54LM20 + nRF7002 is suitable only for low-throughput application.
