Hello,
I am working with the nRF52833 using NCS v3.1.1.
I am using PAwR Scanner Role, and the device needs to remain synchronized while also allowing connections from an app.
I was using extended advertising with a manufacturer data length of approximately 40 bytes. However, I encountered issues where scanning and connecting to the extended advertisements failed on certain iOS devices (specifically the iPhone 16 series), making it impossible to establish a connection via the app.
Based on my research into various support tickets, this appears to be a known, persistent issue with iOS handling of extended advertising.
I am currently considering the following two approaches:
1. Legacy Advertising + Scan Response
2. Legacy Advertising (for app connection) + Non-connectable Extended Advertising
Q1. Are there any known compatibility issues with iOS when using the "Legacy + Scan Response" method?
Q2. Regarding option 1, would there be a significant difference in scanning and connection speeds compared to standard legacy advertising without extended advertising or scan responses? (The environment involves approximately 200 identical devices nearby.)
Q3. Which method do you recommend—option 1 or option 2?
Thank you.
