Toolchain for nRF Connect bare-metal SDK

Hi,

We are planning to use nRF Connect SDK Bare Metal (nrf-bm) v2.0.1 but would like to know which toolchain should be used alongside it? 

https://nrfconnectdocs.nordicsemi.com/ncs-bm/latest/nrf-bm/release_notes/release_notes_2.0.0.html states the following: "This release of Bare Metal is based on nRF Connect SDK v3.3.0."

but I cannot find release notes for v2.0.1, and want to know if nRF Connect SDK v3.3.4 is suitable? It is a compatible selection on the IDE and the code compiles.

Hi,

It does not matter which of the currently available patch releases of nRF Connect SDK v3.3.x you choose for the toolchain, since they all happen to use the same one. Selecting v3.3.4 for the toolchain is therefore perfectly fine, as is any other toolchain between v3.3.0 and v3.3.4 inclusive.

For other releases of nRF Connect SDK the toolchain may differ between patch releases, as it does for instance for versions 3.2.x. This means toolchain selection may matter for some future release of the nRF Connect SDK Bare Metal option, or of releases of nRF Connect SDK.

In practice different patch releases are often interchangeable, since a patch release typically only fixes some existing functionality (bugfix) or adds minor functionality. However we have not tested non-documented combinations, and so your mileage may vary.
