EMC Immunity - 52840 BLE with 2.7GHz interferer

I've just been doing some EMC testing on a board we developed which based on a module containing the 52840. The BLE comms are integral to the function.
When the interferer was placed at 2.6035 GHz (so outside of the BLE band) the BLE stopped immediately and the connection was dropped. (it still behaved badly at 2.7GHz).
The design was based off the 52840 dev board and the antenna has been tuned by the antenna manufacturer so it should be performing well.

Any clues as to where I should be looking?
The software should not have to play a part as the interferer is outside of the BLE band and "shouldn't" have any effect. Should connection timeouts etc be explored to improve resilience?
Can it only be down to hardware?
 Thoughts appreciated.
