nrf9151-laca-r7 - modem does not start

Hi,

I have an issue with nrf9151 modem not starting, giving -116 error.

The board is configured as:

nRF Connect SDK v3.0.1

Toolchain v3.0.2

board target: nrf9151dk/nrf9151/ns

I programmed the modem firmware mfw_nrf91x1_2.0.2.zip and it programmed successfully.

To eliminate that the issue is not from our custom firmware, I programmed serial_lte_modem sample application.

From RTT, it shows -116 error.

Do you know what would cause this?

I tried to reheat the nrf chip but did not make any difference.

I measured DEC0 to be 2.2V. What voltage should it read?

  • Hello,

    thanks for reporting this issue. Could you please provide some more details on your setup? Full logs from the device would be beneficial. The picture attached is not opening on m side. What are you trying to achieve? Are you working on the nRF9151DK or a custom design?

    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Hello, sorry, the picture issue was a hickup on my side. I have now been able to open the image.

    Could you test with running nrfutil device recover and then reprogram the modem FW and application. How did you program the modem FW in the first place i.e. nrfutil or nrf connect for desktop programmer app?

    If this does not help, could you try adding the following to the application prj.conf:

    CONFIG_NRF_MODEM_LIB_LOG_LEVEL_DBG=y

    CONFIG_LOG_MODE_IMMEDIATE=y

    And collect a modem trace building the application with nrf91-modem-trace-rtt snippet

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind
