softdevice controller logging abilities

Good evening,

Our team is developing a new product based on the SDC with the nRF54LM20B.

I came across a new Kconfig option in sdk-nrf that enables logging for enhanced debugging, and I have a couple of questions:

1.What types of errors or debugging events generate log messages? From the logging header in nrfxlib, I understand that most of the messages are related to Channel Sounding. We do not use Channel Sounding, but I am wondering whether other BLE-related features or events are also logged, such as regular BLE connection events, packet loss, or other useful information that is not available through the HCI interface.

2.Will this feature be backported to the LTS 3.4 release branch?

Thank you in advance!

  • Hie,

You can find more details here debug-level logging for the Bluetooth subsystem,

I am mentioning some of them here:

    • CONFIG_BT_HCI_CORE_LOG_LEVEL_DBG — HCI command/event flow, connection state changes, and errors at the HCI layer (this is likely the most useful for general BLE connection events).
    • CONFIG_BT_L2CAP_LOG_LEVEL_DBG — L2CAP channel events, connection/disconnection, and errors.
    • CONFIG_BT_ATT_LOG_LEVEL_DBG — ATT request/response flow, errors, and timeouts.
    • CONFIG_BT_GATT_LOG_LEVEL_DBG — GATT service discovery, read/write operations, and errors.
    • CONFIG_BT_SMP_LOG_LEVEL_DBG — Pairing and security events.
    • CONFIG_MPSL_PIN_DEBUG` Kconfig option to figure out when the radio is used
