About LC filter of the recommended circuit

We would like to ask about the three-stage LC filter on the ANT line.

Is the three-stage LC filter required? We are considering reducing the number of stages to save board space. Is there a reason all three stages must be installed, such as a requirement for SIG certification?

  • Hi Hakuto,

It is not recommended to alter the ANT matching network. The three-stage L-C network on the RF path is necessary to provide impedance matching to the 50-ohm reference point and harmonic suppression. It should precisely follow the reference design which involves copying the component values, geometry, relative placement of the components, the PCB stack-up, and trace lengths. Reducing the number of filter stages risks degrading RF performance and may jeopardize regulatory compliance.
