S310 & pca10006/7

It seems the only way to use the S310 alpha hex on the development kit is to replace the IC on either of these boards; is this correct or is there another way? Also, the 5 included ICs, are they blank, can they have the S310 softdevice programmed onto them, and how? Thanks RG

  • The S310 hex file can only be programmed on second revision nRF51422s. There is a migration whitepaper coming up explaining this in some more detail, but for now, you can assume that any chip you have can not use the S310 directly.

Second revision nRF51422s will have chip marking either QFAAE0 (QFN) or CEAAB0 (WLCSP). If your chips are earlier revisions, the S310 will not work.

You should contact your regional sales manager for details on sampling and schedules for this revision. If you don't have his contact information, please send me a PM with your location.

Edit: B0, not D0 for CSP. Typo.

  • Hi Ole, We're also looking to buy some stock from Mousser; they have the following; which one can we buy to work with S310 1)nRF51422-QFAA-T 2)nRF51422-QFAA-T v2 3)nRF51422-QFAA-R7 v2 4)nRF51422-QFAA-R v2

  • You're most likely better off asking Mouser directly, but I'd assume that the ones marked "v2" are the ones you want. The T and Rs usually have to do with packaging (tray, reel).
