Current consumption using DC Power Analyzer

I have following set up for current measurement.

1. NRF52 DK PCA10040 v0.9.0
2. nRF5 SDK v11.0.0 : Power Profiling Application
3. S132 SoftDevice v2.0.0
4. nFR Master Control Panel Android APP
5. Keysight N6705B

I have flashed the default application using IAR. Power is supplied in the DC input pins from the power analyzer set to 3V supply and 20mA peak current. Following are my results

Connectable mode:

1. Advertising : Avg Current -> 1.16mA/Sec, Peak Current-> 12.89mA
2. Connected: Avg Current -> 454.6uA/Sec, Peak Current-> 12.16mA
3. Notification: Avg Current -> 764.04uA/Sec, Peak Current-> 12.16mA

Non-connectable mode:

1. Beacon: Avg Current -> 1.00mA/Sec, Peak Current-> 12.47mA

These results are very high compared to advertised.

Please let me know if I missed something or any other setup procedure to follow.

If you use your power analyzer as a DC voltage source, the current you measure on the power analyzer will include every component on the chip, even those that are not part of the nRF52 reference design, like the Atmel debugger chip, LEDs and so on.

Use an external power source on the External Supply pins, or a battery. Set the power analyzer to "Current measure" mode, and measure current over P22 (remember to cut SB9). Please see this for more info: devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../
