Small setup for university project

Hi

For a university project I'm looking to create a small Bluetooth based sensor network. For this I was hoping to get your recommended products to work with. I suspect you would be the perfect guys to ask about it :)

Thing to notice is that it is my (And my team)'s first dive into the Bluetooth world.

So the question is what you would recommend to buy for the purpose of creating a small sensor network with 5-10 sensors. The sensor are humidity and temperature to get started.

The Bluetooth modules should be self-contained with a sensor and some batteries. The requirement is it is Bluetooth 4.2 capable so we can test with the newest features.

What would you recommend we buy for our purpose?

We probably need some development kit, but unsure what we need precisely.

And do you have a temperature/humidity sensor you would recommend we use?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards Kasper

  • I recommend going for the nRF52832 or the nRF51422. The nRF52832 is our latest and greatest chip, and this is the chip we focus most of our software development on. So this is the chip that definately will get the latest BLE features we implement. So this is the chip you want if the newest features are important, if not nRF51422 could also be a good choice.

For the nRF52832 I recommend buying the nRF52 DK. You may also want to consider buying a module.

If the nRF51422 is an option, you may also want to consider the nRF51 Dongle.
