Product Data With DFU

I want to reserve a section of memory, FLASH, that will hold static, read only, product data. My application makes use of the following parts of the Nordic ecosystem.

• Bootloader for DFU
• Application with pstorage for runtime configuration settings, Device Manager and DFU service
• S132 Softdevice

My question is what's the best way to store this static read only product data, such as model number, serial number so that it fits in with the Nordic DFU process. To be clear this data can't be erased during a DFU.

Hi Darren,

It sounds like you only need a limited set of data. In that case you can probably use the UICR, which is very well suited for storing things like serieal number etc.

That would be the 32 octet area reserved for customer use?

You can use the UICR registers that are reserved for customer for whatever data you like. The UICR can only be written to once (unless the chip is fully erased), and is typically suited for things like serial number.
