Sniffer can't find pca10000

The sniffer software doesn't seem to find the device on either of two different PCs here, and I'm not sure what we could be doing wrong.

The installation steps were the same on both systems, one Win7 SP1 64, and the other Win7 64.

  • Plugged in the dongle PC10000 v2.2.0
  • Installed the latest 64 bit nrfngo studio
  • Installed 64 bit Wireshark 1.10.5
  • Ran ble-sniffer_win_0.9.5_Sniffer.exe from the folder as administrator

When running the sniffer exe the first time, it displayed Ok after performing the file and plugin installation.

However, it could not establish a connection to the dongle and displayed the following message:

Sniffer Software version: 0.9.5 SVN rev. 550

Establishing connection with Sniffer dongle . . . . . . Is the sniffer software already running somewhere else? . . . . . . Try plugging out the hardware. Wait 5 seconds before plugging back in. . . . . . . See User Guide.pdf for Troubleshooting guide. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

We followed the troubleshooting guide and performed the following multiple times without success:

  • Running as admin
  • Running as user
  • Unplugging the dongle for 10 seconds
  • Adding the port number to sniffer.cfg as described
  • Tried on 2 different Win7 PCs

We also checked for conflicting serial port software, and verified the only serial port was the Jlink com port from the dongle.

Do you have any suggestions on what else we should try?
