Internal LDO mode (nrf51822) with 3V battery, can I operate till 1.8V Battery voltage ?

Hi,

I am using 2 x AA batteries which gives 3V. Planning to enable all the internal LDOs (1.2V, 1.8V and Radio LDO).

VDD and AVDD are shorted on Board.

Will the device be fully functional till Battery discharges till 1.8V ?

My concern is when VDD is 1.8V, 1.7V LDO and Radio LDO might not give desired outputs ? Is this OK ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards, Anil

  • You can operate the device in LDO mode down to 1.8V, see Product Specification chapter 7. Brown-out reset will happen at 1.7V, but you should not go below 1.8V as there may be unpredictable behavior. Battery voltage tend to drop when drawing a lot of current, make sure that the voltage does not go under 1.8V during radio operations.
