print number of retransmissions ESB nRF52

Hello,

i am searching for the possibility to get the information of the number of retransmissions which are needed, to get an ACK from the receiver. The legacy chip nRF24L01+ had a register value, which I could read out. But I didn't find any possibilities in the enhanced shockburst protocoll soft device so far.

Hi Florian ,

You can find the number of tx attempt when you receive the ESB event, it's in the event.tx_attempts variable.

The new uESB library in the SDK v11 comes with the source code. You can open the nrf_esb.c to find out.

The same I thought, that I can get the number of attempts in the tx_attempts variable. I output this variable every time I send a packet and the number of attempts is always 7. The two development kits are laying side by side. Actually I would expect at least different number of attempts.

Hi Florian,

In my case it's most of the time 1 and change to others when I brought the PRX far away. Could you double check if any configuration was wrong. Are you using SDK v11 production version ( not the alpha one) ? What is the retransmit_count value in your ESB config ? By default it's 3.

When would the value need to be read in order to get the total number of retransmission attempts for the packet?  It seems like it would be done once the packet has actually been successfully transmitted and received or if the retransmission max has been reached.  So in the nrf_esb_event_handler would I read the event.tx_attempts value on a NRF_ESB_EVENT_TX_SUCCESS condition?
