It is necessary to Add the matching (Pi) Network If I Use balun And Chip Antenna?

Hello..

I am Using The Balun having Digikey Part No.2450BM14E0003T And Antenna Part No is . 2450AT18B100E

Then it it is Necessary to add Pi network for matching antenna or just Have 50 Ohm trace?

  • Yes it's necessary. No matter how close to 50 ohms the balun, the trace and the antenna are specified to be, there will always be mismatches due to mounting, placement, enclosure and any other environmental factors, particularly for the antenna. So while you'll probably get some signal, even a fair signal, with no matching network, you really need the pi network to tune your antenna to the actual conditions of your particular board if you want to get the full range and low power you can get.
