Sending a feature report

I want to use feature reports in my HID project, but as far as I see this functionality is not fully included in ble_hids.c (SDK 11). I already managed to properly receive feature report (sent from Windows), but I still have no idea how can I send a feature report. I would be grateful for every tip.

Hi,

In principle you never send a feature report, it is requested by the master device, using HidD_GetFeature, or similar. In the config struct for feature reports ble_hids_feature_rep_init you have the option to set how it should respond to read requests. This config is passed as a part of another struct to the init function.

There's a function for adding characteristics in ble_hids.c called feature_rep_characteristics_add().

You said that in ble_hids_feature_rep_init I can set how device should respond, but documentation doesn't give me much information about this. Read_resp variable seems to be initialized as '1' by default. Should I change it? And how(where) can I read report request?

Read_resp should be 1 by default, no need to change it. As I understand it you send the request for a feature report from the device from the master device, in your case windows.

If you have defined read_resp and populated characteristics by using feature_rep_characteristics_add() the master should get a feature report from the device when requested.

I am not sure how you perform the read request on the master side, however I believe there should be documentation for this online.

Yes, I definted read_sesp and used feature_rep_characteristics_add(), but I don't know how can I set value of this report.

I'm not quite sure I get what you are asking, are you getting any errors when you request a feature report now?
