State of GPIOs when PowerDown

Do the GPIOs sink current even when there is no power applied to the nrf52 chip?

We connected a LED to one of the GPIOs and connected the other end of the LED to VCC. The LED lit up even when there was no power provided to the nrf52 chip. Shouldn't the GPIOs be floating and not sink any current in this case?

Hi,

GPIO configurations are retained in system off, this means that you will have to configure them manually if you want them to be floating.

I am referring to the "Power Off" state in which the power is removed externally from the nrf52 module. This is different from the "System Off" state.

In the Power Off state the GPIOs are sinking current, but according to the datasheet they are floating. Why is this?

Where in the spec did you see this? As far as I can see this is undefined.
