Why is there no point system or gamification features on this site?

I'm guessing it is because the engine powering the site does not support it. But has it ever been considered?

I think it is a powerful way to engage users and build a community. I don't think Stack Overflow would be the same without their reputation system.

    The module being used for this site does support it, but we didn't enable it when starting out, to keep things simple (i.e. to avoid having to think out reasonable weightings for different actions, different levels and so on). These are all things that we thought would be easier to do with some experience. I therefore expect this to be enabled at some point in the future, but no final decision on this have been made yet.
