What Nordic Chip to use, need help

Guys

I came over from the Arduino forums, I am searching for a new RF chip to use for a project i am working on but dont know which chip to pick. My application requires a very slow data rate as it is not time sensitive. but i need the best possible range i can find. Some restrictions.

Tranceiver only 1.8-2v operation only 800-1000 meter range required. ultra low sleep mode required only restricted to PCB antenna's but the Rx side will have a very high gain antenna connected.

Which Chip would you recommend maybe the NRF9E5 ?

  • Yes I agree , I have started playing with a design using the 905 . Calculation say I should Get around 1 km with 6db output and 10 dB gain on RX side . My biggest concern now is , which PCB antenna design to use ..... Does anyone maybe have any eagle files already laid out?

  • What type of antenna did you do your calculations with? If calculations tells you that you should really have free line-of-sight and good weather to achieve that with a PCB antenna ;)
