How to create OTA DFU image on OS X?

Is there a way to generate a DFU OTA image from OS X natively without having to use a Windows platform? It seems that the missing step is dat file generation and json manifest creation. The json file could easily be addressed with a text editor, but not sure about the dat file.

I'm currently using nRF5 SDK v10, softdevice s110 v8, arm-none-eabi version 5.4.1, on OS X 10.11.16.

We provided nrfutil source code here as a Pythone package. You can also have nrfutil from util by using pip.

Maybe this instruction from Øyvind can help ?
