nrf52832 hci firmware

Is there firmware available as binary file that can be loaded to the nrf52832 that allows connectivity to is as a UART HCI compatible device?

Would the same firmware be used for enabling USB UART on a nrf52832 dev board?

Background:

When talking to people from Amber on a conference I got the impression that one just needs to flash the default module firmware and Linux 4+ kernel will load the appropriate driver for the nrf52832.

Our Bluetooth stacks (Softdevice) does not expose this interface, but there is an open source stack called NimBLE that you might be able to use for this: http://mynewt.apache.org/os/tutorials/blehci_project/

@Vidar Does that mean that if one wants to use the nrf52832 to provide Bluetooth connectivity to a embedded Linux board it's not possible to use the Linux Bluetooth stack?

The Linux stack should work with any BLE device that supports the HCI interface, but I have not tried to do this with NimBLE running on our 52.

@amartino: If you simply want to run BLE application on Linux, you can use our ble-driver-pc here there are python and nodejs bindings in the github also. The driver based on the serialization firmware running on the nRF52.
