Program the nRF5x-DK while using the Power Profiler Kit

I have one of the new Power Profiler Kits, and it works really well (well done!). The only problem is I can't reprogram the dev kit while it is connected to the Power Profiler. If I try to it says the --family doesn't match, which I assume is because I'm using an nRF51-DK and it is actually trying to program the nRF52 on the Power Profiler.

Is there a way to switch between targetting the nRF51-DK and the nRF52 on the Power Profiler without unplugging it?

  • Aha I found a relatively simple way.

    1. Turn the nRF5x-DK board off with the toggle switch in the corner.
    2. Toggle the tiny slider switch in the middle of the Power Profiler labelled COM to EXT.
    3. Turn the nRF5x-DK board back on.
    4. Flash the board.

Then you can turn it on/off and switch COM back to DK. Or you can leave it on EXT and connect the Power Profiler via another SWD connector.

Would have been nice if the COM switch were a bit bigger, like the power switch on the DK. Maybe something for the next revision?
