nRF Toolbox 4.2.0 with support for buttonless signed DFU?

Hi

The new signed DFU in the SDK12.1 comes along with a experimental buttonless DFU. There are a few bugfixes required to make it working, but the nRF Toolbox app didn't support the buttonless DFU. In fact it was necessary to force the application to reset to bootloader by another tool (e.g. LightBlue). In the release notes of the nRF Toolbox 4.2.0 on the iOS App Store a new feature "Experimental Buttonless Secure DFU feature" is listed. I thought that now the app should support the buttonless feature from the SDK 12.1, but i couldn't make it work.

Could someone explain what should work with the nRF Toolbox and what are the plans for upcoming releases. Is this buttonless DFU the way to go or will something new be introduced with upcoming SDK releases (heard some rumors in that direction).

    Have you added the bugfixes to the known issues with the buttonless example found in this list?

    I tried performing DFU with the experimental buttonless example(with the fixes above) flashed to one of our NRF52 DKs along with the S132 v3.0.0 SoftDevice using an Iphone and the nRF Toolbox app. I had the same experience as you, I was not able to start the DFU process. I tried the same thing with an Android phone and the nRF Connect app and it worked without any issues. I will report this to our App Developer and come back to you with an answer.

    Yes, we're planning on adding a proper buttonless DFU example in an upcoming release.
