Not a question, but a big thank you to Nordic Tech Support (Kristin) who reviewed our nRF24 design several times until we got it right :)
Implementing the recommendations gave us a huge boost in RF performance (range and reliability).
In case it helps anyone, the big thing we missed was a tuning network between the Nordic Balun you see in the ref design and the Johanson chip antenna. With a PCB Trace antenna you tune by snipping the length of the trace. You can't snip a ceramic antenna :) so there has to be a way of tuning it.
There were lots of other adjustments recommended which all added up.
It was interesting to find that a lot of 3rd party nRF24 breakout boards are not well designed, especially those with chip antennas. So looking at those for guidance is not always a good thing.
