what is "Low Power Counter mode"

Hello, in nRF52832_PS_v1.2.pdf, in the timer section for the MODE register, there is a third mode named "Low Power Counter" described, without any description in the rest of the chapter. In additon, the "normal" counter mode is described as deprecated.

What's the difference between the both counter modes?

the nrf52 has 2 modes: timer and lowpowercounter (just counter mode). the other counter mode is depricated. This the mode used in the nrf51. In the low power counter mode the hfclk is not requested until the COUNT task is trigerred, at that point the hfclk is requested for 1 clock clycle. So in practice this is a low power counter.
