Looking for KiCad shield design for nRF51-DK (or nRF52-DK)

Our workshop is using custom PCBs for other manufacturer's developer kits, and I'd like to do a similar shield for our nRF51-DK boards. Can anyone provide a KiCad project file including schematic and board?

  • Hi,

It should be possible to export the Altium files we provide(nRF52/nRF51) to P-CAD, and then import the P-CAD files in KiCAD. In this answer a user has done it for the nRF51.

  • The files exported by the other user aren't much use really.

They are just the PCB plots for the nRF51 reference designs, and you could get almost as much information from the PDF files that Nordic already provide

In my case I need a KiCad symbol for the nRF52832 and nRF52840, so it looks like I'll need to make the schematic and PCB footprint from scratch

I'm hoping I can get these checked by Nordic if I create a request on the MyPage system

But it would be good to know if Nordic would be willing to look at KiCad symbols

I guess I could do this in CadSoft / AutoDesk Eagle instead (as I have a licenced copy of that), but KiCad is almost as good as Eagle and and without the limitations on imposed on all but the most expensive versions of Eagle.
