In Circuit Programming. for nrf51422

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question. I've just ordered some development kits and maybe that will answer the question, but i'm being a bit impatient!

I want to put an nrf51422 on an existing product so we can give it some wireless capability. How do you go about programming the chip once its on the board? I have a microprocessor on board already, but also could attach a programmer to the board to 'program'.

I've spent several hours trying to hunt down a schematic, but they are all locked.

  • The nRF51 series devices are programmed over the SWD interface specified by ARM. This means that you have two options:

    1. Implement this interface on your MCU, and program the nRF51 from that. Implementing SWD may be tricky.
    2. Use an external programmer connected to the SWD interface of the nRF51 chip, and program that. The Development Kit comes with a J-Link Lite, that can be used for this purpose.
