Change beacon Minor Value

This suggests it should be possible to change the beacon advertising content in response to events such as a GPIO input. I'm using nrf52 DK running the beacon example (SDK 12.2.0) which I've modified slightly so that GPIO inputs trigger a 20 second advertising burst. I want to be able to change the Minor Value so that a mobile app can distinguish which GPIO input triggered the advertisement.

I'd appreciate some guidance on how to approach this and if possible links to example code etc.

Changing m_beacon_info[20] and [21] then calling advertising_init() and advertising_start() seems to work.

There is another way to do this by calling the SD API directly, but its not worth the bother unless you are changing the data all the time

I looked at the s132 APi and for example the API functions sd_ble_gap_adv_start and sd_ble_gap_adv_stop are called in the beacon example to start and stop advertising so I'm not sure what you mean by using the SD API directly.

I guess Roger meant you can call sd_ble_gap_adv_data_set() to set the advertising data directly, but you need to encode it by yourself. So it's better to use advertising_init() instead.

I meant using sd_ble_gap_adv_data_set(), as this is the fastest way to update and hence the CPU runs for less time and takes less overall power

I use this as I update the data every time my smart beacon advertises
