Power Profiler Kit fails to measure milliamps correctly

Today when I started power profiler kit, it suddenly started to show peak values like 80 mA. This has not happened before, but the values with the same hardware have been around 20-30 mA. So I checked what the PPK shows with a fixed load, using 3.0 V and a 330 ohm resisor. The result was 64 mA, although it should be 9.1 mA (= 3.0V / 330ohm).

Then I tried to reflash the PPK with flash_ppk.py with no help. What could be causing the thing, is there any way to fix the problem? Below is the pivture what I see with the 330 ohm resistor.

  • Can you verify your switch positions (i.e exernal dut, power select). Can you measure the External DUT output when using the Power Select in Reg. position and setting it to 3V from software? Also, try with a higher resistor value, like 500k, and see if that also measures completely wrong.

Please try to measure both External DUT and DK to see if we can come closer to a solution. Let's hope the board is not broken.

  • That is indeed a very dramatic change, and it sounds to me like there are some switching that is not working as it should. Can you try and measure pin 1 and 2 on connector P10 when expecting current draws of 10uA, 1mA and 10mA? These signals is routed to the switches, and if they work, the actual analog switches has failed.
