need help with nrf52 current consumption

Configuration: Nordic PPK, PCA10040, PC10028 & PCA63511. Current consumption is relatively high on nRF52 vs nRF51; nRF51 is configured with SDK 10.0 and nRF52 with SDK 12.2. Current draw for nRF51 using the example code for heart rate monitor averages to ~65.95 µA and ~5.46 µA using the proximity example code. For the nRF52, I am getting ~745.1 µA for heart monitor and ~2.23 mA for proximity. Why is there such a huge difference from dev kit and SDK to the new dev-kit and SDK? What are the root causes to the increase in current consumption? Thanks

  • Daniel, thanks for your response. The DKs were not in debug mode. BTW, USB connectivity were used to power and collect data from both DKs. In fact the test environment for both DKs were identical. So, why are the test results different? Could you suggest an area in SDK that I study to understand/reduce current consumption? Again, Nordic example code for proximity and heart monitor were used to evaluate current draw.
