Software support for the nRF51 after SDK 13.0.0

Hi

I've just looked into the new released SDK 13.0.0 with support for the new S132 4.0.2 and the new PCA10056. On line in the release notes reads "This release does not support nRF51.".

What are the plans for the software support for the nRF51 devices? Will the patches in the SDK 13.0.0 (e.g. for "Secure DFU" or the FDS) be officially released for the nRF51 as well?

    Hi Adrian,

    As mentioned in the Release note, we dropped support for nRF51 from SDK v13. As far as I can see, there will be no official patch for nRF51 at least regarding SDK libraries and examples.

    The nRF51 is still have full support from us, with fixing bugs and providing patch but most likely as solution provided by us, techsupport.

    For S130 softdevice, there will be no new feature unfortunately, but we will release official bug fix update if there is issue with the softdevice.

    I can understand that the "old" devices and softdevices are removed from the newest SDK. We have the same situation here in out own development platform. Removing old stuff makes things easier. Also I didn't expect some more features on the nRF51.

    I was mostly surprised because within the signed DFU implementation a lot of changes happend in SDK13. These changes will sadly never be officially released for the nRF51.

    Anyway it's good to know that there will be no official releases with nRF51 support.
