NRF8001 Consuming approx 6.2mA in advertise mode

I'm running a custom nrf8001 board and the nrf8001 is consuming approx 6.2mA on it's own in advertisement mode using the uart demo. Has anyone had this same problem? Any advice?

So I isolated the nrf8001 to be able to accurately measure currents in various states. This is the weird part.

At power on: 6.2mA After setup and in advertisement 265uA After connection 303uA After disconnection and back to advertisement 37uA!!!???!?!

Why does the first cycle of connect and disconnect take so much power and why is it not consistent?
