I would like a BLE chip with usb peripheral

Hi all,

I've found the nRF52840 with USB but it seems a bit OTT for our application, something more like the 51822 would be nice, but cannot identify one, can anyone list the devices with USB peripherals?

Thanks in advance.

  • I'm completely baffled by your question. The nRF52840 has all the things the nrf51822 has, is probably going to be very much the same price (I do not know the price point but the nRF52832 was very competitive with the nRF51 series), is faster, more battery efficient, supports BLE 5.0, the latest Nordic softdevices and USB.

The only think like the nRF51822 with USB is the nRF52840, the latter is just a progression of the former.

In what way is it OTT where the nRF51 isn't?

  • Thanks for your reply,

It looks like since that is the only one with USB it explains why I could not find any others.

    Regards,

  • The only other chip which comes to mind as having BLE and USB is the TI CC2540 or possibly others in that series. Atmel (ok Micron now) has some good USB chips and great library support but the BLE is still a second chip. In general BLE is low energy, USB is not so I can understand how chip vendors have gone one way or the other. Personally I'm delighted to see the option of on-SOC USB on the Nordic chips and I think it's going to open up a new front for development.
