BLE 5 power consumptions

Hi Nordic.

I have received here in Norway my first batch of BLE 5, and we are about to start developing and building our wristband with the only purpose of monitoring/positioning. I need to know what will be the consumption of the whole BLE and our SoC for it. Its about 15mm diameter and using a button cell battery that we are still to determine, but we wish it could be CR12xx and no bigger that the CR20xx cell battery. The BLE will have a 10secons on/off interval and only to pin its position, no more than that. Could you give me an estimate of time of that full wristband working? I have seen the consumptions of the Rx and Tx lower than previous, and taking a CR20xx that can give 230mAh divided by the consumptions (xxxxxxmA) of the wristband= 6month to 12 month IS OUR GOAL. What would you suggest us? thanks in advance for your help. Ronny

Surprise: you will need to build a proto and measure it:) You can do some very rough estimate with nRF52 on-line power profiler but in the end you will build a prototype and measure it.

Well nRF52832 is released product hence you can find detailed product specification on Nordic infocenter and you can use these numbers to make your own model (however it will be hardly accurate and making the prototype looks surprisingly like better way, you will anyway most probably need several iterations because power consumption won't be your single issue, trust me;). nRF5840 is not released as mass market product and that will come in ~6 months. Therefore you have limited products specification available (which Nordic calls "objective") but still you will find most numbers there. Btw. don't forget to look into Errata sheets, there might be some surprises;)
