nRF5x-MDK-Keil4?

Dear all,

I want to develop applicattions for the board nRF52840 Preview DK. I went to the download section of this board , and i saw the following software nRF5x-MDK-Keil4 and nRF5x-MDK-Keil4-5-Clause-NOD, which is the purpose of this software? With this software can i use the Keil 4 and Keil 5 freely?

Any help will be very appreciatted.

Hi,

As explained in this answer here, the MDK installers add support for Nordic chips. This includes device header files, flash algorithms and system description files.

• For Keil 5, you normally don’t need to run any installer, and Keil should prompt you to install the nRF_DeviceFamilyPack when you open a project. If you for some reason don’t get this prompt, you can download and install it manually with the nRF5x-MDK-Pack / nRF5x-MDK-Pack-5-Clause-NOD.
• For Keil 4, you should download and install nRF5x-MDK-Keil4 / nRF5x-MDK-Keil4-5-Clause-NOD.

From MDK version 8.12.0 the option to install the MDK with a new 5-clause Nordic proprietary license was added. See this blog post for more information about that.
