nRF Sniffer: detect if connection is established?

Hi,

I want to use the nRF BLE Sniffer to detect wether a connection (between my fitness tracker and smart phone) is present or not. I am able to get the advertisement packets if no connection is established and to follow the connection after establishment (until the connection breaks down).

If the connection is lost by the sniffer it does not follow it anymore even if I come near to the sniffer with both devices again. My aim was to detect the connection between the devices or the advertisement of the fitness tracker in order to detect if I enter or leave the room/place. I am not interested in the content of the connection.

Is this possible?

Thank you Josh

  • Oh you think that Sniffer will keep track of connections even it doesn't see any packet for minutes or hours? No, not even devices from 10-30k USD don't do this. You would need some full spectrum (all 37 channels) analyzer because connection clock drifts and after few minutes the actual link and sniffer go out of sync anyway (that's my expectation)...
