What is the white box on the nRF52 DK for?

I see that there is a white box around the nRF52 chip and I was wondering if it was boxing up the core components to make a functional nRF52832 breakout board?

  • Yes, that is indeed what the box is for. Everything outside the square is not necessary to make the nRF52 work. In fact, there are some components inside the square that is not necessary either. You don't strictly need the 32.768kHz crystal with its two capacitors, nor do you strictly need C10, L2, and L3 that are only there to make the internal DCDC regulator work.
