Changing the advdata.name_type field causes my nrf51822 to stop advertising

Hey folks,

I am currently trying to expose a local name for my nrf51822 chip but whenever i change it from NO_NAME to any of the other options and run the program it doesn't broadcast at all. The same happens when i set include_appearance to true.

For more info I am using a modified version of nrf51_ble_app_temp_master to send battery data as part of the manufacturer data in a beacon type configuration.

I am trying to expose the name so that we can easily single out our beacons on our receiver using the TI stack.

Any help would be appreciated. -Chris Butler

There is a maximum size to advertising packets and I think your device name may be causing the packet to be too large.

You get 29 bytes of user data to send, when you exceed that: "...the ble_advdata_set() method of the SDK will start returning an error, NRF_ERROR_DATA_SIZE (0x0C). " - says Ole Morten
