I'm looking for a RF transceiver for my project

Hello!

I am an electronics engineer in my company, but I'm not familiar with wireless design. My company will launch a project that will use wireless connection for bidirectional voice transmission.

The product of this project is like one voice hub and several voice clients. The voice clients are always on standby to collect the voice from users, but the voice transmission is not always on, only happens when triggered by a special voice command. Besides voice, hub and clients can transmit some control and status data to each other. The voice transmission can be full duplex, or half duplex.

The voice parameters are listed as follows:

  1. The sampling frequency: 8KHz~16KHz
  2. Bit depth: 8bit or 16bit
  3. Channel number: mono or stereo

The products will be used in an environment as follows:

  1. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both existing around
  2. Home indoor
  3. The required transmission distance is 2~15 meters

My questions are:

  1. What RF transceiver IC or RF SOC is suitable for my project?
  2. I'm not familiar with wireless protocol, so, I'm not sure whether I should develop our own protocol or use an off-the-shelf protocol?

Thanks!

  • An answer little too late.

    1. What RF transceiver IC or RF SOC is suitable for my project?

You have to use 2.4GHZ family. Dig into datasheets just using the first page of them. Bandwith, kbps are the keywords in my idea. 15 meter wont be a problem in eye-sight. But if there are walls between it needs a more capable design. Not only the SoC itself.

    1. I'm not familiar with wireless protocol, so, .....

Using a ready protocol is always more reliable in the mean of both perfomance and security. Otherwise, it is a real struggle.
